11th Dimension Press is very pleased to welcome Author Brian Merritt. Brian’s forthcoming debut novel, Jack Brandon’s War, tells the parallel story of Jack Brandon’s harrowing experience as a boy growing up on the British home front during the Second World War, and Jack’s father, Tom Brandon, an engineering officer in Britain’s Merchant Navy. We are very excited to release another work of fiction based on the authentic experiences of its author.

Brian Merritt was born in 1933 and grew up in Merseyside, England. He and his family endured the bombing during World War ll, losing their home and many friends from a direct hit on their street.
After attending grammar school he served an apprenticeship as a marine engineer subsequently sailing all over the world as a ship’s officer in the British Merchant Navy.
Brian immigrated to Canada in 1973 with his wife and two sons. They settled in Montreal Quebec. In 1979 the family moved to St. Catharines Ontario because of a new job as marine service manager serving vessels passing through the Welland Canal. A reassignment as a Quality Assurance Manager in 1985 required a move to Burlington, Ontario.
He started his own consulting business in 1988 and moved to Grimsby, Ontario. During this period he wrote a technical manual that was adopted by a large technical association as their ‘Quality Management Standard.
He served as unit commander with a local marine rescue unit of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary for several years and has participated in number of local municipal volunteer committees. He and his wife enjoy their garden and close proximity to Lake Ontario during summer months.
Brian is a keen sailor, enjoys painting and writing. Jack Brandon’s War is Brian’s debut full length novel. He has written a number of short stories for local competitions.
